American Idol Top 2 Revealed: Was Nick Fradiani, Clark Beckham, or Jax Eliminated?


And then there were two! American Idol narrowed down the top 3 finalists at the top of its two-part finale on May 12. Nick Fradiani, Clark Beckham, and Jax were the singers remaining, but only two were able to compete live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

American Idol season 14 is hosting the first guy vs. guy finale since Adam Lambert and Kris Allen faced off in season 8 — the top 2 singers are Fradiani and Beckham, with Jax being sent home in the first minute of the show thanks to a difference in less than 0.4% of the vote.

The three songs each of the remaining contestants will perform throughout the hour include a personal choice from the season, American Idol creator Simon Fuller‘s pick, and the coronation song they’ll perform as confetti showers down from the ceiling should they win on May 13.

Clark Beckham reprised

Clark Beckham reprised “Georgia On My Mind” and sang “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers in the American Idol finale.

Beckham, 22, kicked the show off with a reprise of “Georgia On My Mind,” while Fradiani, 29, chose Matchbox Twenty’s “Bright Lights.” Round two consisted of a pick from Fuller — “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers for Beckham, and “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz for Fradiani.

The final round consisted of an original song — “Champion” for Beckham, and “Beautiful Life” for Fradiani. Listen to them both below!

The judges declared Fradiani the winner of the first round and Beckham the winner of the second. However, at the end of the night, Keith Urban gave the edge to Fradiani by a hair

The winner of the penultimate season of American Idol the show will end after 2016’s season 15 — will be crowned Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
