Remember last week on The Real Housewives of New York City, when Sonja Morgan generously offered to throw Ramona Singer a birthday bash? Well, episode 6 of the RHONY brought the celebration upon us and — brace yourself — it didn’t go exactly as planned. Tempers were flaring from the outset, setting the stage for mayhem as the ladies were forced to remain in each other’s company, overnight, in a casino, in New Jersey.
Sonja, who was allegedly hosting the event, battled everyone except Dorinda Medley (who seemed to feel badly for her) and Carole Radziwill (who didn’t seem to pay any attention to her at all). But while Bethenny Frankel sparred with the aspiring fashion lifestyle brand maven, she also tried to help her — but whether her help was taken or not was an entirely different story.

Sonja Shows the Girls the Door (and Only the Door!)
The episode opened with Heather Thomson screaming at the top of her lungs, “In my world my friends are allowed in my house. In my world I don’t leave my friends in the foyer in the cold!” She quickly followed this up, shouting, “Bitch! Bitch! You are a f—ing bitch!”
It turns out that the Yummy creator was screaming at the party host, Sonja, who apparently refused to let Heather, Kristen Taekman, and Dorinda into her house when they arrived before she was ready to depart for Atlantic City. Ramona then bounded out of Sonja’s home. “I was allowed to use the bathroom!” she chimed. (Maybe Sonja made an exception since Ramona was the birthday girl.)
Sonja argued the girls should have waited in the limo, but this assertion led to lots of balking about how the limo wasn’t there — and, it’s worth noting, it was raining. The rain will play an important role later, so take note.
In any case, the limo did eventually show up, Bethenny arrived, Sonja finished packing and crawled in, and they sped away toward the Borgata. Highlights of the drive included Sonja arguing she couldn’t open the door to let them into her house because her dogs and cat might run out, the triumphant return of Ramona’s “crazy eyes” as she shouted it was her birthday weekend and she had enough stress in her life, and Bethenny peeing on the side of the road.

Trying Their Luck in Atlantic T***y
Shortly after arriving at their hotel, the crew was joined by Carole and LuAnn de Lesseps, who, it seemed, evoked some deep favors from the universe and got to Atlantic City without having to ride in the limo. After Heather broke her Jacuzzi tub and caught LuAnn and Carole up on how they missed hanging out in the rain in front of Sonja’s house for an hour, the women convened for a girls’ night out.
Within a few minutes of sitting down to the table, Bethenny managed to bring Sonja (who had been drinking since before she left her room) to tears by challenging her claim that she has been in PR her whole life. “You hurt her feelings,” Ramona snapped at Bethenny, who, despite everything, continued to try to reason with Sonja. “It’s Ramona’s birthday. Stop crying,” LuAnn ordered Sonja before taking a softer approach. “I love you, stop crying!” She then shrugged and turned to Bethenny, “You can’t reason with Sonja.”
Though Sonja was still (sort of) crying, the ladies decided it was time to move on to gambling and dancing. Sonja and Ramona did pretty well at the Blackjack tables and seemed to be in good spirits when they entered the nightclub. Sonja got her groove back for a bit, dancing on tables and trying (unsuccessfully) to make out with LuAnn, but then the festivities soured when she tipped over the edge from playful to just plain incoherent.
After the Party It’s the After Party
Poor Dorinda. Perhaps it was because she was the newbie to the group. Perhaps it was because she is just a more compassionate person than the rest. But for one reason or another, Dorinda ended up being tasked with taking care of Sonja. Ever the good sport, Dorinda helped Sonja walk to her room and guided her to bed, but it wasn’t without some serious effort.

The entire time, Sonja rambled about how she’s an artist and how she has raised millions for various causes. Dorinda tried to offer some sage words, telling Sonja, “Money speaks; wealth whispers,” to which Sonja replied that she had partied with John F. Kennedy, Jr. (whom she affectionately called John John) and Madonna. It seems LuAnn was dead on. You can’t reason with Sonja.
After the After Party It’s the Intervention
The next morning everyone was hurting a bit from the night before — everyone except Sonja, that is. Strutting around in black silk pajamas, Sonja was bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to seize the day. But then Bethenny seized her. The Skinny Girl mogul pulled Sonja aside to have a heart-to-heart, which was really a thinly veiled intervention.
“I know that because of stress and anxiety, that you take different combinations of pills, but alcohol and different prescriptions do not work,” Bethenny began, prompting Sonja to insist that she takes “vitamins,” not pills. She did admit, though, that her “vitamins” might be making her act a little off-center. “I think the stress is really getting to you,” Bethenny continued. “I think you need to talk to someone.” Sonja then argued that her behavior wasn’t due to her drinking, but to the “barometric pressure or the rain.” (Remember, it was raining the morning before!) Shockingly, Bethenny didn’t buy it.
“You have to take care of yourself because it’s coming out. It’s not working. It needs to be fixed and I will help you,” Bethenny promised before reiterating, “You need to drink less.” Shockingly, Sonja didn’t seem too receptive to Bethenny’s advice and the episode closed without any hint as to whether Ramona actually had a good time.
